Emerging from architectural practice and research into the adaptive reuse of Portsmouth’s Palmerston Forts, this series reinterprets the geometries that dictate the forts’ specialised interior spaces. Manoeuvring arcs, powder stores and defensive bulkheads, designed to optimise movement and protection, are instead reimagined as systems of abstract order and rhythm.

Each composition begins with the forts’ plan form, overlaid, rotated and mirrored to expose the underlying precision that shaped their construction. Using traditional CMY printing separations, the works fragment and rebuild geometry through multiplying layers of cyan, magenta and yellow.
